What We Love

1. Grey Gardens

This film is one of the best documentaries of all time. For Valentine's Day a few years ago Matthew surprised me with the box set of Grey Gardens and The Beales of Grey Gardens. He knows me so well!  Two years ago I dressed like Little Edie for Halloween, and we have a framed picture of her hanging in our living room. Yes, I might be a little bit obsessed. This 1976 cult classic was made into a film with Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange in 2009, and though it was a good remake, nothing can compare to the real thing. If you haven't seen it yet get it on your netflix right now!

2. Advanced Style Blog

Gran and Pops never looked so chic as on this blog I love all about stylish folks over 65. I'll let the creator tell you about it himself. "Ari Seth Cohen the creator of Advanced Style. I roam the streets of New York looking for the most stylish and creative older folks. Respect your elders and let these ladies and gents teach you a thing or two about living life to the fullest. Advanced Style offers proof from the wise and silver-haired set that personal style advances with age."

3. Animal Embroidered Loafers

When I found this website of embroidered animal shoes I could hardly contain myself! They remind me of little old ladies in cottages that knit and drink tea. These sweet little owl shoes are only the beginning. There are foxes, bunnies, bees, horses and more. And don't forget about the ballet flats too. If you love them as much as I do you can check out all the cute animal goodness of these shoes here By Paige.

4. The Golden Girls

These ladies know how to work it. Their sense of style is spot on for the 65+ age group (and hey, I would even wear some of their fine wardrobe selections). What truly makes these ladies wonderful, however, is their feisty sense of humor. They hold nothing back for the audience! And that is why the Golden Girls are my favorite silver haired matriarchs. -Jenny-

5. Animals in Clothes
I love animals in clothes. Cats, dogs, rabbits, birds (rabbits especially. See said example). Give me an animal in a cute outfit and I squeal with excitement. When I am older, I will have a whole collection of furry animals to dress in handmade outfits. I may even paint them in my fancy creations for the world to see. A book deal of rococo rabbit costumes featuring my precious Howard would be ideal. -Jenny-

6. Needlepoint with a Twist
Yves Saint Laurent suit with ruffled blouse and needlepoint bag by Fendi (left). Floral chiffon dress from Roberto Cavalli (right).
This photo was taken by Steven Meisel for the March 2010 issue of US Vogue. They are some of my favorite editorial photographs from last year. The vintage-inspired pieces still translate well for the upcoming Spring season. And that Fendi needlepoint tapestry bag is quite dreamy. It reminds me of a purse my grandmother would carry on the way to the market. Paired with those platform heels and sophisticated suit, it is the perfect touch of Edwardian with a modern twist. -Jenny-

Oh i simply love grey gardens! Animals in clothes are simply too cute!

Jenni :

I could not agree more with all of these things. I feel like these are all things related to the elderly, and I really like the elderly.

If you like animals in clothes, I recommend looking up Harry Whittier Frees's work. It's fantastically creepy and weird.
