Scenic World

I often have grandiose dreams of moving to the countryside and starting an organic farm. As much as I love San Francisco and the city life, I often feel detached from nature. I can't really complain--San Francisco does have ample green space for a large metropolitan city (although, did you know that San Francisco only covers 7 miles by 7 miles. It is actually quite tiny in size but packed full of people). Waking up every morning to the sound of the bus and not the sound of chirping birds makes Springtime rather disappointing. Grass and daises growing from the concrete is the only hint of the warmer weather to come.

Speaking of warmer weather, I actually have some rather big news to share about the coming months. I will be working as a research assistant at the University of Michigan during the summer!  Matty and I will be living in Ann Arbor (the Kerrytown district to be exact) from June-early August. I know absolutely no one in Michigan so this will be a rather big transition for me. If you are in the area or surrounding area, I would love to meet and get coffee. Although we will return to San Francisco, I am still very excited to experience the Midwest. I have been a Bay Area native my whole life and this will be the first time that I will be living outside of California (even if it is just temporary).

Isn't this dress dreamy? I found it buried on a rack of clothes at a local thrift store for only $3.00. I loved the bright floral pattern and its longer length. And my wooden platforms are making its second debut this week. I can't stop wearing them out!

Lovely dress! And I can totally relate about city life, Paris makes me feel really far from the countryside. I'd kill to live in SF though, it's on my "to live in" list. Portland's nice too, where I'm from, the most parks of any US city! But michigan, that's exciting!

Cheers!

Love that garden dress and the sisal bag. Wow, Michigan should be fun. The summer is the best time to be there. I've only been to Madison as far as the Midwest is concerned but I'm sure you'll get some lake time in which should be nice. 3.00 not a bad deal! Happy Weekend lady

Lydia :

I love the flowers growing out of the sidewalk.

you seriously kill me with the amazing dresses you find..$3..!!! that is crazy.
my grandparent owned a huge farm in KY in the middle of nowhere with chickens and cows..it was the best thing going to sleep listing to the insects and waking up to the birds.
MI should be fun..a new adventure is always good for the soul!

Beautiful dress! I love the print. The shoes are great too:)

The Thriftaholic (Leilani) :

It's definitely the same here, I have to walk about a mile to a park and unfortunately it's all brown right now! It's also chilly so we have to wear our wool coats. :(

Yay Midwest! I'm here in Chicago as are several other vintage bloggers. I have a friend who lives outside Detroit but don't know anyone by U Michigan. You should think about taking a train or bus to visit Chicago for a weekend!

haha I love how you yearn for the countryside and feel trapped in the city, so you photograph the weeds that grow from the bricks :D I'm just like that, I want to live on a farm one day. I live in a small village right now, I could never live in a city! I love the chirping of the birds, and the quiet :)

gorgeous dress and shoes, I want it all! and supercool news about this summer!!

Re: Thanks! I love my shoes as well, they're just super hard to walk in because I am NOT used to heels. I am getting my MA in English Literature, but I've always wanted to just live off the land. Does that sound crazy? or maybe romantic? :)

Santina :

I can understand why you want to wear those shoes all the time - they're beautiful. I love the color and wood platform!

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and commenting. I added your visa question to my list for a subsequent post!
