In Your Eyes

I don't know if anyone else has the fantasy of being a character in a 1980s romance film, but I do. I would gladly be Molly Ringwald in any of her covetable roles (Sixteen Candles anyone?) As much as I love every John Hughes film, Cameron Crowe's Say Anything is by far my favorite teen romance from the 80s. Set in Seattle, Washington, the film follows Lloyd Duber (John Cusack) and his relationship with valedictorian Diane Court (lone Skye). The film's most iconic scene takes place near the end of the film. Lloyd stands outside of Diane's bedroom window holding a boombox over his head while playing Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes." Swoon. I would love to be Diane in this scene.
Channeling my love for 1980s teen romance films, I wore a pair of high-waisted Calvin Klein shorts, my favorite polka dot shirt, and yellow accessories. Matty calls this outfit my "Tiffany ensemble" since it is reminiscent of the teen pop star's fashion choices. If only I were in my twenties in the 1980s.

And this is the closest you will ever see me to wearing a pair of pants.

arnique :

I would die to be the object of John Cusack's affection. Sigh. My favourite film is Ferris Bueller's Day Off though. Love Cameron.

Rebecca :

1980's films are the best. I want all of the clothes from pretty in pink, with the possible exception of her actual prom dress. Like the yellow pop of colour here.

Emily, Ruby Slipper Journeys :

Man, I can never comment on posts here anymore unless I come from the blog (rather than the individual post). I don't know if that's some blogger thing...

I LOVE Say Anything so much! One of my all time favourite movies, and as Arnique says, I would pretty much do or say anything to be reincarnated as Diane!

Christy :

Oh, 80's teen romance films! They're too absurd not to love! Sixteen Candles is one of my favorites, but I've never seen Say Anything; the boombox scene you mentioned sounds pretty fantastic.

I keep seeing bloggers wearing amazing high-waisted jean shorts, and you're no exception. Yours fit you perfectly, and I love how you've styled them with bright accessories and a simple polka dot top. <3

Rebeccak :

Amber Blue Bird :

say anything is one of my favorite 80s films along with Troop Beverly Hills :)

So Yeah So :

I adore that movie and always wanted to be Diane. Lloyd loved her so much. It was amazing.

Speaking of Ione Skye, have you ever seen Gas, Food, Lodging? It's excellent, and I love Fairuza Balk's style in it. I think it's still available on Netflix instant.

Steffys Pros and Cons :

Is it terrible that I've never seen Say Anything? It's one of those movies that I know I have to watch but just haven't gotten around to yet!

The Thriftaholic (Leilani) :

You definitely could have starred in one of those cute '80s films!! Do you like "High Fidelity"? It was filmed in my neighborhood here in Chicago. If you get to visit this summer we can visit all the places in the movie!

Love the pops of yellow with the polka dot blouse. Fun photo background for Memorial Day too.
