The weather was hot, hot, H.O.T. in North Carolina the day before we left. Matthew and I had gone with his brother and boyfriend to peruse the local thrift stores and tourist traps. We couldn't help but laugh at some of the store names like "The Fudgery" and "Try My Nuts". I didn't have too much luck at the thrift stores but I hit vintage gold at "Something Old Something New". While the prices were higher than I usually pay, I though they were mostly fair and even got a pretty sweet discount from the owner. She was a total darling! If you're ever in the Outer Banks, this is one place you have got to check out.
After spending the day shopping I asked Matt to snap a few pictures down by the beach, which is littered with gazebos and broken down fences. Being used to San Francisco weather, it was quite hot for me and I can't imagine visiting during the serious summer months. My hat is off to you ladies who have to deal with the heat all summer long, and look good doing it. I wore a simple cotton dress and brown belt and let my white legs shine free. These sandals were a life saver on the burning sand. And of course, sunglasses are a must have.
