Hello Dolly

Hello Dolly
I have been collecting vintage dresses for about eight years now. It is interesting to look back at frocks that I bought sometime ago as a marker for how my style has changed.  I purchased this dress three years ago at Held Over in the Haight/Ashbury District of San Francisco. A psychedelic 1960's babydoll dress? Yes, please. A recent transplant to the neighborhood, I was inspired by the iconic Summer of Love photographs of the famous street corner. And while I still love this dress, my attraction to a darker color palette changed how I felt about a bright paisley print. Sadly, this dress was momentarily forgotten on my rack of vintage pieces. This summer, however, I decided to incorporate my beloved dress back into my wardrobe. I am quite happy that I did! There is something wonderful about returning to a favorite piece, even if your style has changed since its first purchase. Although I have styled this dress in many different ways, I chose to pair it with a simple white blouse and accessories. And my newly found bow hair fastener and cotton-candy pink clutch were the perfect compliments to the look. A new look for a fifty-year-old dress.

This is awesome! You look like a little girl (in the best possible way). Or, as I wrote on my tumblr, like you should be Lucy in a 60s reimagining of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

Alice, Pretty Confused :

I would never think to style a little 60s dress this way but it totally work. Lovely bag too. I know what you mean about finding some early vintage purchases. It's funny seeing how your style evolves and finding the key pieces you are always drawn to.

Wild Flower :

Love the color and print on this dress, so vintage and pretty!

Sadly, I don't remember all the store names, but we were mainly on State St. because my sister works at Apple. :)

Wait till you see the 30's blouse I purchased up there!

Love the color of this! So bright and funky. I definitely love re-discovering old items and sometimes even wearing them in different styles. When I was 12, my mom would give me clothes that were just too "frumpy" and maybe a bit "grown-up" for me and now...I'm so glad she did. :)

Such a sweet dress! It is nice to be able to revisit old styles. I have a beloved skirt that has been altered several times to adapt to times I have changed shape! I just can't let it go.
