Sunday Sounds: Joanna Newsom

joanna newsom 2
I must admit that when I first listened to Joanna Newsom's Milk Eyed Mender in 2004, I was a bit surprised by her offbeat vocals. However, her quirky lyrics and folk influence has made her one of my favorite artists. Perfect to listen to on a quiet night at home, Newsom's dreamy harp-infused songs are reminiscent of whimsical childhood fables. I am never disappointed when I listen to her albums, particularly Ys.

freesia :

Thanks for introducing her, I have to listen more !!

Jennifer King :

I love her. Caught her on tour for Ys a while back. It was amazing. I love listening to Have One on Me on quiet Sundays, days like today when it's dark and rainy, but the birds are still chirping.

So Yeah So :

I really need to give her a listen. Currently I only know her as Andy Samberg's girlfriend, and that should change seeing how she's talented in her own right.
