Urban Witch

This weekend, Matthew and I traveled to Harbin Hot Springs to celebrate our four year anniversary. Harbin is tucked into a lovely canyon and features one of the oldest natural hot springs in Northern California. We both indulged in an hour long massage as well as a variety of treats from their cafe. This is our fifth visit to Harbin since 2007, and we are planning another trip in December to celebrate the winter solstice. While Matthew and I don't go on very many weekend getaways, I've found these short trips to be a much needed change of pace from the anxieties of work and school.

I wish I could say I was better prepared for Halloween, but all of my creative costume ideas were never  brought to fruition. I instead dressed as my go-to costume in years past- a classic witch hat with a black velvet dress and boots. Hope everyone has a fun and safe witching hour!

Vanessa, Take only Memories :

That's such a lovely outfit. Not sure it would immediately remind me of a witch but the bag ads a certain type of creepiness ;)
I love dressing up for Halloween but its not really celebrated here. I might dress up a little for work. Thinking of something "normal" like Annie Hall or something. Not too crazy...but a little different.

Annebeth :

oh but please tell us about your costume ideas! :-D if I had a party to go to I would totally be the Black Swan, but just for trotting around the house dressed up I usually go for something witchy or ghostlike too... Stay tuned for my halloweenpost tonight! :-D btw congrats on your 4 year anniversary!

Lydia :

Happy Anniversary!! That sounds like a wonderful trip. You look lovely here, such a wonderful skirt. My "go-to" look is usually a pirate (for some reason I own a lot of things with skulls...)

Nice blog :)

Gracey at Fashion for Giants :

I love this bag - it's wonderful. Sort of creepy, but mostly awesome!

As an aside, I worked for a Harbin hotspring, not the main one though, one summer in college. In Sierraville, CA. It was the best summer job ever.

Paula :

Lovely skirt, bag and haircut! Totally adorable.

Monique :

your trip to the hot springs sounds incredibly relaxing...what a great place to spend time for the winter solstice. it's great to have a go to costume. i just through on a 70's coat and go as a hippy if i can't think of anything.

Jo :

It sounds like a wonderful trip away! <3 I love your outfit! The olive and black work perfectly together, and I adore the belt as the finishing touch! So so so gorgeous!
