Dusk at Sea

gg
Nestled in the hills of Presidio National Park, there's a cliff that overlooks the Golden Gate Bridge. When it isn't too foggy, Matthew and I travel to the cliff to watch the sunset over the Pacific Ocean.  It's an odd experience growing up in the Bay Area and living so close to historic sites such as the Golden Gate Bridge. I live a mere eight minutes from this spot, yet I often take for granted its beauty. It's difficult to imagine living far from the Pacific since so much of my childhood involved weekend trips to Bodega Bay and Stinson Beach. I look fondly on those lazy days spent lounging on the sand and eating barbecued oysters and clam chowder.  While it is far too cold to venture into its choppy waters, there is nothing I enjoy more than a day spent near the ocean.

I too grew up in Northern California, among the beaches and the redwoods, but also the mountains and valleys. It took me a while to figure out that not everyone had what I had, and that people traveled from far away to see the place I was living in.

Your color palette is perfect for this time of year!

Emily, Ruby Slipper Journeys :

I'm going to be a broken record and say "stunning photos" again. The colour scheme is lovely here!

Ashley :

GORGEOUS! I've never been the San Francisco, so I'm extremely jealous. I know what you mean about taking where you live for granted, though. I've lived on the shores of Lake Superior (sounds romantic, doesn't it?), which is big enough it basically IS an ocean to me. But we get a ton of tourists here in the summer talking about how wonderful it is and what a gorgeous lake it is and blah blah blah and I always realize that I have taken living here for granted. Now I can't imagine NOT living near a body of water...just seems weird to me.

Carmen :

great blog, your style is amazing!

Frannie Pantz :

I LOVE this post! Your outfit is so pretty (especially the skirt) but also I just got engaged on this very bridge two weeks ago! And right before the engagement, I got drenched by a wave on the very rocks in which you are standing! Love this!

JennaStevie :

i visited san francisco this spring for the first time and was instantly in love. yet i also know precisely what you mean about loving where you were born and raised - i am a clevelander through and through and can't quite imagine calling myself anything else.

MOUSEVOX VINTAGE :

such a beautiful set of photos! the light is just gorgeous and so are you. it's funny how we tend to overlook so many beautiful things around us when it's a part of our everyday lives. while everything is still so new to me in sf, all i can think about these days is how many little places in nashville i can't wait to visit when i go back for the holidays.

The Thriftaholic (Leilani) :

I've really missed the ocean (and geographic features in general) since moving to Chicago. You're lucky to be so close to it! The golden autumn light is so pretty in this set of photos. Lovely silk blouse too, I never come across any '70s silk blouses, only polyester. :(

dear winsome :

so lovely! the light and colors are perfect together..i want to be there!
